Independent publishing rooted in Haworth

Briar Books is a small press in Haworth, drawing on the Brontës’ legacy while championing contemporary voices. We publish beautifully crafted books for readers who seek depth, character, and the intimacy of independent publishing.

Our story

A refined reading nook inspired by Haworth’s literary history: a tufted dark charcoal armchair with a wool throw in muted heather tones, set beside a small round side table stacked with newly published titles from an independent press, their covers understated and typographically elegant. A tall window frames a distant view of moorland under a soft grey sky, intentionally blurred. Late afternoon natural light washes across the scene, creating gentle shadows and a subdued, contemplative mood. Photographic realism, wide-angle but focused on the books and chair, with an asymmetrical composition that feels sophisticated, quiet, and steeped in English literary tradition.
